Trust me! These 10 daily habits changed my life! If you’re looking for a routine, a fresh-start, and a blueprint for achieving your goals, this is the perfect place to start!

We discuss Personal Habits to adopt like staying hydrated, as well as some Personal Practices, that you should 100% adopt, in order to ultimately achieve those goals!

Personal Habits to Adopt

Sleeping Habits

A good place to start is with your sleeping habits. It ultimately sets the tone for your entire day! I try wake up around 8am, which could improve, as I only end up starting my day by 9am. But it’s a good place to start! If your current sleep schedule is horrible, try starting slow, by sleeping before 12am and waking up by 9am.

Now, have you heard of Sleep Cycles? Do you know how they work? They are the ultimate game changer! How many times have you slept 10 or 13 hours, yet still somehow wake up tired?

Use sleeptiming.com to check when to go to bed, and when to wake up, to feel super refreshed!

Spending Time Outside

Yes, I cannot stress enough how important time outside can be! Just being out and absorbing your environment! Try spending at least 10 minutes outside in your mornings!

You can go for a 10 minute walk, drink your morning beverage, or just sun-bathe (if the sun is out.) But even if the Sun is hiding, walking around outside for at least 10 minutes can significantly improve your day, and health!

I have recently started walking around the neighbourhood, and sometimes around the nearby park. It truly is beautiful to be out and about, watching the trees change!  I have now decided to make my walk a daily habit! Every day!

I also drink my morning cup of tea outside; I will either sit in the sun or shade. I often see some butterflies, which is an incredible way to start the day!

Drinking Enough Water

We hear this one a lot! Yet, somehow, we aren’t all drinking enough water! It is time we hold ourselves accountable! We literally need water to survive, so it is a good idea to hop on board this trend!

Honestly, the best way to tackle this one would be to get a 1.5 to 2 litre bottle for water and make it a goal to finish it by the end of the day! I would also suggest adopting the habit of drinking a cup of water as soon as you wake up! That is 250ml of water out the way, right there!

Drinking enough water helps reduce headaches, clear your skin, and improve your digestion. You will look and feel so much healthier!

Physical Activity

Yes, we already know! But seriously dude, just do it, get on with it! Even if it’s 10 minutes or an hour, physical activity helps regulate your body and ultimately, makes you feel good!

Try yoga, go for a run, go to the gym, and just get that body moving and that blood pumping! You can use YouTube videos, or apps, for workout inspiration ideas and curate your own routine!

Always make time for some sort of exercise in your day. If you have had a busy day, maybe make it shorter, do some light, at home, workouts? Get that body moving!

Filling your Diet with Good Food

Yes, eat food that makes you feel good! You know what food that is! You know your body best! For example, I know I always feel great after eating fruits, or salads, etc. whereas, I know I feel worse when I eat chips or chocolates for breakfast.

Now I am not saying that you cannot eat chips and chocolate, but everything in moderation. Like I said, you know your body best.

Point is, eat a diet that makes you feel good! Whether it be a healthy morning smoothie, or  a whole meal like eggs, toast, hash browns, spinach and cheese, you let your body tell you which breakfast suits you best!

Personal Practices to Adopt

Keeping your Space Clean

Okay, this one is super important! I literally went straight to cleaning after I wrote this point down! (Don’t want to be a hypocrite lol)

But for real! Clean your space, clear your mind. We all know, it is a lot easier to clean our external space than it is to alter our mental state. But guess what? Waking up to a clean, organized, environment can motivate you in many ways! And, waking up in a messy, unorganised environment can make you feel grumpy and unmotivated. You ultimately end up matching your environment!

Like I said, I immediately went to clean my space when planning this blog post, and since then I have maintained the neatness. I have woken up feeling happy and comfortable in the newly organised space, it is super refreshing! I made little beds on the floor for my cats – now that it isn’t cluttered with clothes and bags. I even hung a hook up to hold my eco-friendly shopping bags – so that I don’t forget them. Everything has its place, and that is the best way to start!

The To Do Lists

This is pretty much how I get things done. In fact, it is one of the most effective ways I keep myself motivated throughout the day, or week. I write to do lists for everything! It’s fun, especially once you’ve completed a task and get to check it off!

For those who are so down in the dumps, that even getting up to eat or shower is a win! I would suggest making a comprehensive self-care list. I have a Personal to do list, it literally has tasks like bush your hair, eat some breakfast, or wash your face and moisturize. I know it may sound silly but when I was super unmotivated, spending most of my day doing nothing but scrolling and dreaming, these little techniques really helped! Being able to be proud that I have checked off a personal task on my list, and accomplished something!

Now that I am investing in passive sources of income – my blog – I have developed Career-related to do lists. For example, my goals for the month and what should be completed, as well as my weekly tasks that need to be completed to achieve those monthly goals. Even down to the daily tasks, this ultimately builds your whole foundation. What are your daily, weekly and monthly goals? Where do you want to be in a year, and what steps do you need to take to get there?

Tracking your Habits

Now that we are discovering what we need to be doing to get to where we want to be in a year, we need to start creating those habits and tracking them!

I would suggest getting a journal or note book specifically for your habit tracking! Write down what’s important to track! Durations, differences, inclines or declines, etc.

A Habit Tracker reminds you to act! When you have a journal documenting everything, it also almost becomes accountability and shame if you don’t do something! Like the to do lists, tracking your habits provides immediate satisfaction, as you slowly start accomplishing your goals every day!

For inspiration, here are some daily habits I either track or would like to track: exercise, yoga, drinking 2 litres of water, writing, reading and researching, manifesting, meditation, and gratitude.

Setting Goals & Practicing Gratitude

Yes, these obviously go hand in hand. It is time to set those goals! Make them weekly, monthly or yearly goals! Dot down the next 5 years if you would like to! Keep these goals safe, and somewhere you can be reminded of them!

Create a vision board! Whether it is digital or physical, create that vision and look at it daily! Do not forget it! You are worthy of living that life! Go and get it! But, don’t forget, the biggest step towards achieving your dreams, is being grateful for what you have now! Be grateful for all the little blessings in your life. Be grateful for life! Especially since you may have doubted it in the past… Gratitude is honestly the key to manifestation.

Use every day to work towards achieving those goals – except when you feel burnout, which means you should let yourself rest. (I will be writing a blog post on batch creating and how to avoid burnout.)

Consuming  Less Harmful  Media

Yay, here is the fun part! Now that you have mentally created your perfect life, it is time to get inspired! Stop consuming harmful media! Yes, all that content that makes you feel sour and bitter, stop looking at it! Instead, rather find accounts and pages that inspire you! That make you want to get up, get it done and get that bag!

Remember, you want every aspect of your current situation to match the life you want to live, as best as possible. Consume inspiring media! Whether that be travel blogs, or someone doing exactly what you want to! Knowing that someone like you has made it, gives you that extra boost of confidence. Make sure the media you consume is inspiring you to get up and work harder!

Conclusion

Putting all these daily habits together could help create the perfect structure to one’s day. Combining the daily habits with the daily practices could help create those stepping stones to achieve those goals.
